Job Description:

Tetra Tech is a multi-disciplinary firm of consulting scientists and engineers with offices throughout the United States. We are seeking a project to senior-level Geological Engineer to join our Golden, Colorado office and become an integral member of our team. The work of our Golden office is primarily centered around providing operational, permitting, engineering, and technical support to the mining industry worldwide.

Responsibilities:

This position will work closely with our Abandoned Mine Lands (AML) group to provide technical assistance with mine subsidence, mine reclamation, subsidence remediation, and other aspects of abandoned mines. Work will include both technical aspects and project management aspects of medium to large projects.

In addition to AML work, complete geological and/or geotechnical assessments of earth and rock fill water storage and tailings dams and dam foundations. Work includes design and analyses of earthen structures as well as completing dam inspections, writing inspection reports, preparing design/bid packages for permitting/construction, and providing construction oversight services. Work will include mentoring junior staff. Some travel required.

Experience:

3-5 years experience (min) in geological/geotechnical design and engineering for large scale geo structures. Knowledge of rock mechanics, underground mine design, mining-related waste containment facilities (tailings dams, heap leach facilities, etc.), earthquake hazard assessments and dynamic analyses a plus. and Wyoming PE and/or PG registration preferred, but not required.

Skills Requirements:

Should have experience performing slope stability and seepage analyses, GeoStudio software suite experience preferred. Should have good working knowledge of PC-based systems and programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and possess strong problem solving, time management, and written/verbal communication skills. Familiarity with dynamic analysis, geosynthetic liner design a plus.

Degree Requirements:

B.Sc. Geological Engineering required. M.S. in Geological Engineering a plus.
