ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST/ENGINEER/GEOLOGIST (JUNIOR): Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA Job Code: DIV-SMX-2009-006-EnvSciJr-nff Division: DIV Career Level: Entry Level Education: Bachelor's Degree Category: Science Job Description: Tetra Tech, Inc., an industry leader and nationally recognized engineering and consulting firm, is seeking to fill a Junior to Mid-Level Environmental Scientist position in the Air Force solid waste /compliance/civil engineering functional area. Responsibilities include: 1. Solid waste compliance issues, WDR/NPDES compliance, landfill operational documents, and development of pollution prevention solutions and alternatives. 2. Technical writing and hands-on equipment operations and maintenance. 3. Data review, option evaluation, and recommendation of best results. 4. Client interaction and presentation of options and results. Other specific technical areas will include: 1. Technical document writing including Joint Technical Document (JTD), Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP) and Guide, Preliminary Closure Plan and Post Closure Maintenance Plan, Waste Discharge Requirements (WDR), Draft Report of Waste Discharge (ROWD). 2. Extensive client interaction. 3. Solid waste management and compliance support. 4. Recycling operations support. 5. Pollution Prevention support. 6. Solid waste management compliance, tracking and metrics activities. 7. Solid Waste Regulatory Updates. 8. C&D Debris Management Support Permitting and Management Assistance, and 9. Diversion Data Collection Job Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology or related field. One to five year's related work experience. Because the position is located on Vandenberg AFB, the successful candidate must be able to obtain clearance for base access, operation of government computers, and operation of government vehicles. Personable and able to work with a variety of organizations and individuals. Computer skills including MS Excel, Word, Access and other database software Familiarity with Vandenberg AFB and government regulations related to landfill operations and hazardous materials management is desired.
