GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER: San Jose, CA

Description: Kleinfelder's San Jose office is looking for a Geotechnical Project Manager or Senior Engineer with experience, skills and interest in managing projects. There is the potential for the person in this position to move into a team management position in two to five years.

The successful candidate will participate in nationwide user groups within the Kleinfelder which will allow you the option of accelerated technical expertise development in areas of your choice.

The ideal project manager must have at least 6 years experience in geotechnical consulting, and the ability to provide technical support and project management on complex geotechnical projects. Experience with public sector, commercial development, and transportation clients a plus. Strong analytical skills are required including having demonstrated experience in a seismically active area.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record directing technical programs and projects, both multiple and individual, with overall program/project responsibilities. Duties include analysis and report writing, identifying and defining scope, techniques, and prices for project proposals. Ensuring consistently accurate and timely client and management communications. Overseeing development of cost estimates. Making technical recommendations and decisions within project scope. As a technical resource and role model, this position requires a positive attitude and an ability to communicate effectively with clients, regulators, and junior staff.

Requirements: An MS from an accredited college/university is preferred with a major in civil/geotechnical engineering. Professional Registration (PE) or the ability to obtain registration in the State of California within 3 months is required. California Geotechnical Engineer preferred or the ability to obtain within 12 months.

6 - 12 years related professional experience.

Professional Engineer Registration, California P.E. required.

Geotechnical Engineer Registration, California P.E. preferred.

Advanced knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint; SLOPEW experience preferred.

Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education required.
