Description

The National Surface Water Resources Program at Kleinfelder, an ENR Top 100 design firm, with offices throughout the United States, is soliciting candidates for the Civil/Geotechnical Design Leader position. Work conducted in the program includes civil, geotechnical, structural, hydrologic, hydraulic, and geological engineering associated with safety evaluations, planning, design, and construction of water resources projects including dams, levees, spillways, outlet works, penstocks, intake towers, and water conveyance facilities.

The Civil/Geotechnical Design Lead with oversee the geotechnical engineering and design for the Surface Water Resources Program nationwide. Duties may include directing technical programs and projects both multiple and individual, with overall program/project responsibilities. Ensures consistently accurate and timely client and management communications. Resolves abstract problems/difficult technical matters independently and serves as a technical resource throughout the company. Develops and maintains client relationships. As a lead technical specialist in discipline, performs analytical, field and project management work. Manages major proposal coordination, preparation and technical assessment. Provides expert witness testimony and high-level consultation on projects.

Requirements

10-12 years of engineering design and project management experience associated with embankment and concrete dams, appurtenant structures (spillways, outlet works, diversion dams), and water conveyance facilities. Project construction experience desired.

Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, and others as appropriate. Must be capable of guiding civil/geotechnical design engineering projects involving the design of new or rehabilitation of existing dams and appurtenant structures such as spillways, outlet works, pipelines, penstocks; development of design documents; cost estimating; and providing engineering support during construction. Must have strong communication, management, and leadership skills and a commitment to effective project delivery, and client satisfaction. Must be willing to travel. Position may be located in Colorado or Northern California.

Education
Minimum MS Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, professional engineering registration is required.
