Description

The National Surface Water Resources Program at Kleinfelder, an ENR Top 100 design firm, with offices throughout the United States, is soliciting candidates for the Civil/Hydrologic/Hydraulic Engineer position. Work conducted in the program includes civil, geotechnical, structural, hydrologic, hydraulic, and geological engineering associated with safety evaluations, planning, design, and construction of water resources projects including dams, levees, spillways, outlet works, penstocks, intake towers, and water conveyance facilities.

The Engineer will provide engineering and design for the Surface Water Resources Program nationwide. Duties may include: prepare designs, reports and calculations on highly complex projects. Performs/develops scope for field and office tasks (technical and non-technical) and independent analysis. Conducts field exploration, sampling, inspection, analysis and technical support under supervision. Coordinates small to moderate size projects with on-going review and interaction by senior operations/technical staff. Provides training for entry level technicians and professional staff as needed.

Requirements

4-7 years of progressive engineering experience in dam safety and evaluation, design and construction of embankment and concrete dams and appurtenant structures (spillway, outlet works, diversion dams), canals and tunnels. Requires strong experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, hydraulic structures design, and emergency action planning. Experience with risk assessment and failure modes assessment desirable.

Education

MS in Civil or Water Resources Engineering, professional registration (or ability to obtain within one year) required.
