ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST 5: Oak Ridge, TN Requisition ID: 9712BR Job Description: As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM's mission by: * Making independent decisions regarding engineering/scientific problems and methods * Representing CDM in conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work * Acting as a mentor for lower level employees * Actively participating or assisting in new business development by contributing to strategic planning, marketing, and business operations planning. * Planning, developing, coordinating, and directing a large and important project or a number of small projects with many complex features * Refining your project management skills * Coordinating and reviewing the work of a small staff of engineers/scientists (typically 5 to 10) * Estimating manpower needs, and scheduling and assigning work to meet completion date * Performing complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques, procedures, processes, products, equipment, and methods * Developing and evaluating plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others * Usually performing as a staff advisor and consultant as to a technical specialty, a type of facility or equipment, or a program function Job Requirements: * 7 - 10 minimum years of experience since B.S. * Requires the ability and expertise to use advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of particular field of specialty resulting from progressive experience. * Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer is a requirement for engineering positions. * Registration as a licensed Professional Geologist within the resident state (if available, or by a recognized professional society if not) is a requirement for geologist positions. * Certification and/or Master's degree in specialty field required for scientist positions (where one exists). * Driving required * US citizenship required in order to obtain security clearance. * Knowledge of RCRA regulations and experience implementing RCRA regulations are required * RCRA permitting experience preferred in Tennessee * Waste profiling experience * DOE experience and CHMM is preferred.
